Seeing With the Eyes of Compassion

Reading: Luke 15:17-20; Psalm 103:8-14

Devotional: "While he was still a long way off, his father saw him." This father had been watching, waiting, hoping. When the son finally turned toward home, the father didn't see the filth of the far country—he saw his child. Compassion moved him to run, embrace, and restore before a single excuse was offered. This is the heart of God toward us. He sees beyond our failures to our identity as His children. Today, ask God to give you His eyes. Who in your life needs to be seen with compassion rather than judgment? Perhaps it's a wayward child, a struggling friend, or even yourself. Compassion doesn't ignore sin, but it refuses to let sin have the final word. It runs toward the repentant heart with mercy. Let God's compassion flow through you today, remembering how much you yourself have been forgiven.
