Grief Is Natural—Even Jesus Wept

Reading: John 11:32-36
Devotional:
When Mary fell at Jesus' feet weeping over Lazarus's death, Jesus didn't rebuke her emotions or quote theology. Instead, Scripture records the shortest yet most profound verse: "Jesus wept." The Son of God, who knew He would raise Lazarus moments later, still grieved. This reveals a powerful truth: grief is not a sign of weak faith but of deep love. God created us with emotions, and He honors them. When loss strikes your life, don't suppress your tears or pretend everything is fine. Jesus modeled authentic grief for us. Your sorrow matters to Him because you matter to Him. Today, give yourself permission to feel what you feel, knowing that the God who wept beside a tomb walks beside you in your valley.
