Before the Altar - Preparing Your Heart
Reading: 1 Corinthians 7:1-9
Devotional: Before anyone says "I do," they must first understand God's design for relationship. Paul addresses both the gift of singleness and the blessing of marriage, reminding us that both are sacred callings. The question is not "When will I marry?" but "Am I becoming the person God designed me to be?" Too many enter marriage expecting their spouse to complete them, when only Christ can fill that role. Marriage magnifies what is already within you—your character, your spiritual maturity, your capacity for selflessness.
Today, ask yourself honestly: "Would I want to marry me?" Use this time of preparation, whether single or married, to surrender your expectations to God and allow Him to shape you into an asset rather than a deficit in any relationship.
Reflection Question: What areas of my character need transformation before I can truly serve another person in covenant relationship?
